Balenciaga sneakers inspired by German supermarket
First it was Ikea, now it’s Germany’s biggest supermarket chain Edeka. Much like their ‘luxury’ iteration of Ikea’s iconic tote bag, Balenciaga created a lambskin leather version of Edeka’s grocery bag complete with an interior zip and patch pockets – we’re all for cutting down on the plastic but bear in mind this bag is going for USD$1,050 compared to the original USD$1 – for their Spring/Summer 2018 Men’s collection. Now they’ve dropped a pair of matching sneakers for women, available for pre-order via Barneys.
Printed on these comfy mid-top sneakers is the message “The Power of Dreams” in blue, which recurs throughout the collection and is meant to allude to “designer Demna Gvasali’s message of optimism this season.” Designed to fit (and look) like a sock, the canary yellow elastic knit Speed sneakers also feature a white sole and Balenciaga’s logo in the style of Edeka’s original graphic.
These kicks are going for USD$795. Thoughts?
