Photographer Peter Lindbergh Exhibition Shows How He Put the ‘Super’ in Supermodel
As a photographer, Peter Lindbergh captured the 1990s better than any other. At a new exhibition – Peter Lindbergh, A Different Vision on Fashion Photography – there are more than 400 images by the German that span his iconic fashion work, as well as cultural themes and cityscapes.
But it is mostly his work capturing the original supermodels that should spark memories. There are great moments with Cindy, Linda and Christy, then later Kate and Milla. The images are instantly recognisable for the clarity of the composition, the natural look he captures and Lindbergh’s tendency to shoot in black and white.
The exhibition at the Kunsthal Rotterdam until February 12 also includes some less public moments: personal notes and props, Polaroid snaps and contact sheets.
