The Beekman Hotel To Bring New Life to Lower Manhattan
By#legendApril 26, 2016
A new chapter in the revival of Lower Manhattan begins this year with the opening of Santiago Calatrava’s Oculus at the World Trade Center station. But for those looking for old-fashioned charm, look no further than The Beekman.
The landmark at 5 Beekman Street was one of Manhattan’s first skyscrapers, built in 1881. It has a nine-storey atrium at its heart and is capped with a striking pyramidal skylight. It will soon house The Beekman hotel. The property will have 287 rooms, including 45 suites and two penthouses, each with a private terrace, that are located in the building’s distinctive turrets. thebeekman.com
