The Met Gala, one of the most important fashion industry events of the year, has been postponed indefinitely in light of the Coronavirus situation. It is the latest of a string of major events that have already been put off, and was originally scheduled to take place on May 4.
The 2020 exhibition entitled “About Time: Fashion and Duration” was set to be sponsored by Louis Vuitton and Condé Nast, and be hosted by Nicolas Ghesquire, the creative director of womenswear at Louis Vuitton, Emma Stone, Meryl Streep, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Anna Wintour.
“Due to the unavoidable and responsible decision by the Metropolitan Museum to close its doors, About Time, and the opening night gala, will be postponed to a later date,” Wintour wrote on Vogue.com.
